Advancing Policy. Empowering Youth.

The Connecticut Youth Services Association (CYSA) is the leading voice championing the work of Connecticut’s Youth Service Bureaus (YSBs) and the young people they support.

Through the collaborative efforts of our experienced lobbyist and committed Advocacy Committee, CYSA drives meaningful change by securing sustained funding for youth programs, strengthening diversion systems, and advancing legislation that truly reflects the needs and realities of our communities.

Advocacy Priorities

CYSA champions meaningful investments in key areas to support effective youth services statewide, including:

Community-Based Treatment and Prevention

Youth face increasingly complex challenges, including mental health and behavioral issues. CYSA advocates for services that address these needs, through school-based, local, and trauma-informed care.

Fiscal Stability

We seek robust, sustained funding for all 100+ YSBs statewide – essential to ensuring continuity of care, program expansion, and infrastructure growth.

Diversion and Youth Justice

CYSA promotes restorative approaches that keep youth out of the justice system and in their communities. We support legislation and funding that strengthen YDTs and uphold the proven impact of diversion.

Legislative Engagement

Each year, CYSA elevates the voices and impact of YSB professionals across the state through key events including:

YSB Day at the Capitol

An annual event bringing YSB leaders and youth advocates to the State Capitol to meet directly with legislators.

Regional Chapter Legislative Meetings

Held in January and early February before the session begins. These meetings offer a platform to share local impact and legislative priorities.

Tools to Take Action

Your voice matters. CYSA provides a variety of tools and resources for YSBs to connect with their legislators and participate in the policymaking process.
