YSB Day at the Capitol 2025: Celebrating Youth Voice and Community Impact

May 6, 2025 | Legislative Updates, News

On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, Youth Service Bureaus (YSBs) from across Connecticut gathered at the State Capitol for YSB Day at the Capitol, an inspiring celebration of youth voice, partnership, and advocacy.

Hosted by the Connecticut Youth Services Association (CYSA), the annual event brings together youth leaders, YSB staff, legislators, and community partners to highlight the essential role YSBs play in strengthening families, supporting mental health, and empowering young people in every corner of the state.

This year’s program featured remarks from state leaders, conversations with local youth advocates, and powerful stories illustrating the impact of YSB programs—from prevention and diversion to leadership development and family support. Youth Advisory Board members from communities like Tolland, Guilford, Berlin, and beyond proudly shared how YSBs help them lead change in their schools and towns.

A highlight of the day was the Youth Panel Discussion, where student representatives offered thoughtful insights directly to legislators—sharing their experiences, ideas, and hopes for the future of youth services in Connecticut.

YSB Day at the Capitol continues to remind us that when youth are given a seat at the table, their voices can shape stronger, more connected communities.

Thank you to all who joined us in celebrating this year’s event—and to every YSB across the state for your tireless dedication to Connecticut’s youth and families.
