On Friday, May 1, 2026 Youth Service Bureaus (YSBs) from across Connecticut gathered at the State Capitol for YSB Day at the Capitol, an inspiring celebration of youth voice, partnership, and advocacy. Hosted by the Connecticut Youth Services Association (CYSA), this annual event brings together youth leaders, YSB professionals, legislators, and community partners to highlight the vital role YSBs play in strengthening families, supporting mental health, and empowering young people throughout Connecticut.
Centered around the message that “Your Voice Has Value,” this year’s program featured remarks from state leaders, meaningful conversations with youth advocates, and powerful stories demonstrating the impact of YSB programs, from prevention and diversion services to leadership development and family support initiatives.
A highlight of the day was the Youth Panel Discussion, where student representatives provided thoughtful and candid perspectives directly to legislators, sharing their experiences, ideas, and hopes for the future of youth services in Connecticut. Their voices served as a powerful reminder that when young people are given a seat at the table, they help shape stronger, more connected, and more responsive communities.
YSB Day at the Capitol continues to demonstrate the importance of investing in youth leadership and ensuring young people know their perspectives matter.
